Who are we?

The Bridge is a small, growing church, the focus of which is to 'be' and 'become' the people that God desires us to be, while also being active in the 'relating' and 'serving' that God desires us to do.

We began as a group of 8 people, meeting in a home.  Our first public worship was on Easter Sunday of 2008, and consistent weekly worship services began at the start of the fall 2008-2009 school year in our current location of the UConn Alumni Association on the UConn campus, where we continue to meet for worship and fellowship each Sunday evening at 6:30.   

The Bridge is contemporary in worship, outgoing in fellowship, biblical and relevant in teaching, Baptist in doctrine, and always striving to exude the love of God in all we do.  Although collegiates are a primary focus of our ministry, we are a church for the community as well.  (In fact, one reason we chose the name 'The Bridge' is that we hope to be used in some small way to help 'bridge' Mansfield-Storrs residents with university students, and vice-versa. What's our vision?

To be a church through which God's love actively flows to connect people closer to God and to one another in meaningful relationships.

Our central focus is God, who IS love. (1.John 4:16)

Our Lord is Jesus, through whom God's love is wonderfully displayed. (John 3:16)

Our teacher is the Holy Spirit, by whom God pours His love into hearts. (Rom. 5:5)


Our Central Value: God's Love in action!

We want Christ's love to be apparent in us, among us, and through us. An over-arching guide toward this is a circle of 3 verbs: Receive-Experience-Flow. We want to ever-increasingly...

RECEIVE and accept God's love which He freely offers!

EXPERIENCE and appropriate God's love within us!

FLOW and spread God's love outwardly to others!


These 3 form a spiraling growth cycle which God uses to bring about His good and perfect will in our own lives, in the lives of others, and in the world to advance His Kingdom. Try it!


What is The Bridge like?

Welcoming, contemporary, casual, and real. To us ‘church’ should never be boring, fake, or self-serving. We are committed to being close in our relationships with each other and with God, teaching biblical Truth focused on it’s practical relevance to life, worshiping God through well-done contemporary music (although we don’t view music as the only means of worship), and being active growth agents in the community for God’s love, unity, and will.


Why the name: The Bridge ?

A bridge symbolically illustrates much of what we sense God has called us to be and do. A bridge connects together places separated due to some difficult expanse, provides a sturdy conduit over which purposeful movement can flow, and allows the places it connects to grow closer together in more than just distance. - point others to Jesus Christ, THE Bridge to a right relationship with God.
- bridge people closer to God in their relationship with Him, and following of Him.
- bridge people closer to one another in loving, genuine, God-honoring relationships.
- bridge people toward becoming who God desires, and doing what pleases Him.
- bridge the hearts and efforts of like-minded believers in the area closer in unity.
- bridge UConn-Storrs to the Mansfield-Storrs community, and vice-versa.
